Patrick Wayne Mahoney was born in rural Clarence, MO, on January 9, 1942, the son of Wayne and Mona (Dent) Mahoney, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Clarence High School in 1959 and immediately joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1963 after spending most of his time in Tripoli, Libya. Pat returned to Clarence where he worked with his father in dairy farming. He married Shirley White in Clarence, MO, on October 17, 1964 and she survives at home.
Pat and Shirley moved to Browning, MO, where they were engaged in dairy farming with Pat’s brother Don. They moved to Unionville in 1969 where Pat farmed and worked at Bruce’s Tire Shop. He then worked with Missouri Mining for a number of years and with Premium Standard Farms from 1993 until his retirement in 2008. Pat was jack-of-all trades who often worked as a self-employed welder. He liked fishing and camping, especially in the Rocky Mountains of Buena Vista, CO. Pat was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and the Missouri Tigers. He was a good natured teaser, with an easy smile, and a friendly personality. Pat liked to frequent the coffee shops in town and visit with that circle of friends.
In addition to his wife, Pat is survived by three sons, Ron Mahoney of Marshall, MO; Randy Mahoney of New Franklin, MO; and Brent Mahoney of Columbia, MO. Two brothers also survive, Charles Mahoney and his wife Pat of Springfield, IL; and Mike Mahoney and his wife Nur of Ankara, Turkey.
