Lois Jean Bailey, 85 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (August 30, 2012) in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The daughter of Max B. and Mary C. (Newby) Garhart, she was born August 19, 1927 in Salisbury, MO. On October 10, 1945 in Montgomery, AL she was united in marriage to Oren Dee Bailey who preceded her in death on May 7, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Maxine Lewis.

Jean is survived by one daughter, Diana McGruder and husband Dr. Jerry McGruder of Fayetteville, AR and one granddaughter, Cassie McGruder of Melbourne, Australia. Jean also had a friend of many years, John Winslow who was very loving, caring and was just a very nice guy.

Jean graduated from Kirksville High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kirksville. She enjoyed doing hand embroidery work.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2012) at Ft. Madison Cemetery with Janice Legg officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
