Frank Thompson, 53, of Lucerne, Missouri passed away suddenly of natural causes on Thursday, September 20, 2012.
Frank Thompson was born on March 14, 1959 in Greentop, Missouri, the son of Kenneth and Dolores (Kowalski) Thompson. Frank graduated from Putnam County R1 High School in 1978 then moved to Des Moines and worked at the Monford Packing House for 10 years. On May 28, 1988 Frank married Shirley Smith in Des Moines. Together they settled back home in Putnam County in 1994. Frank began working for Premium Standard Farms before starting his own pest control business in 1999.
Frank’s wife, kids, and grandchildren were his greatest joys in life. He continuously talked about his time spent with family on trips to the four corners, Pennsylvania by train for Thanksgiving, Niagara Falls, and the Great Lakes. Even though these vacations were special, Frank was partial to the simplicity of camping with his family. He will be greatly missed.
Frank Thompson is survived by his wife Shirley of the home. Frank’s four children include sons, Nathan Thompson and wife Heather; Eric Thompson and wife Samantha; Daniel Thompson; and a daughter, Sara Thompson. Frank’s surviving grandchildren are Landon, Brieann, Ava, Rylie, Hayden, and (soon to arrive) Lane. His surviving brothers are Robert and Andrew Thompson and his surviving sisters are Jean VanEgdom, Judith Mathes, Heather Jones, Amy Thompson, Jessica Tutterrow and Cassandra Tippett. Frank is also survived by his father, Kenneth Thompson and step-mother, Barbara.
In addition to his mother, Dolores Thompson, Frank is preceded in death by brother-in-laws, Tom Lockhart and Ron VanEgdom and a great nephew, Easton VanEgdom. Frank’s mother and father-in-law, Robert and Helen Smith also preceded him in death.
A visitation was held for Mr. Thompson at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville on Sunday, September 23, 2012. A private family interment was held the next day at the Lucerne Cemetery, Lucerne, MO.
