Tonya S. Downing

Tonya S. Downing, 53 of Novinger, MO passed away Monday, (October 1, 2012) at her home.

The daughter of Clarence and Clara (Sizemore) Stewart, she was born on April 11, 1959 in Kirksville, MO. On December 4, 1979 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Merlin Downing, who survives.

Tonya is also survived by her mother, Clara Lewis of Kirksville; her sons, Christopher Stewart and wife Patricia of Kirksville, Timothy Downing and wife Anika of Novinger, MO; her daughter, Jessica Downing of Novinger, MO; her brother, Mike Stewart and wife Tonya of Lindale, TX; sister, Dovie Stewart of Kirksville; grandchildren, Joshua Downing, Paige Vandusen, Indra Cima, Alex Cima, Caleb Cima and Racheal Packham.

Tonya was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Stewart and sister, Tina Darland.

Tonya was reared in the Kirksville area until 1958 when her family moved to a farm near Novinger, MO. Tonya was a second mom to a lot of people in addition to being a great and loving person. Tonya was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.

A Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, (October 4, 2012) at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Alan Coonfield officiating. Musical selections of “Amazing Grace”, “In The Garden” and “Angels Among Us” Honorary bearers will be Jess Mahurin, Chuck Childers, Monte Jackson, Randy Craig, Billy Craig, Randy Eiler and Brian Martin. Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, MO.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
