Mary Carollene (Carol) Gardner Collier passed away peacefully in her home on December 14, 2012.

Carol was born December 31, 1927 in Kirksville MO, the daughter of Ray P and Alma Lee (Humphrey) Gardner, she attended Kirksville public schools and graduated from Kirksville High School. She then attended Blue Mountain College, Northeast Missouri State Teachers College, and graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Business.

On September 9, 1949 Carol wed Bruce Collier. They moved to Kirksville in 1950 to assist Carol’s dad Ray P Gardner in his jewelry store, eventually becoming owners.

Carol was active in PTA, P.E.O., Mothers’ Home Club, a board member of The Salvation Army, and a member of The Hamilton Street Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending Bible studies, playing tennis, making jewelry, quilting, and sewing.

Mother of Suzanne (Dr. Ronald) Phillips, Rachel Collier, Bryan (Bonnie) Collier, Holly (Keith) Dierberg; loving grandmother of Tierney Phillips Lamone, Troy Phillips, Tyler (Mary Grace) Phillips, Drew Phillips, Bradley (Amanda) Collier, Blake Collier, Melanie Collier, Emily (Kyle) Dierberg Armstrong, Jill (Brent) Dierberg Clark, and Ryan Dierberg. Greatgrandmother of Talia and Braun. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, sister Evonne, husband Bruce, daughter Rachel, and grandson Troy. Also survived by sisters Justine Stewart and Doris Cundiff and loving Aunt to many.

The family will receive friends at Davis-Playle-Hudson Rimer Funeral Home on  December 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A private memorial service will be held for family members.
