Ronal Ray King

Ronal King, 72 of rural Greentop passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The son of Forrest (Tom) and Maxine (Ray) King, he was born February 28, 1940, in Sheridan, Missouri. On May 30, 1959 he was united in marriage to Jeannette Cheers and to this marriage three children were born.

Ronal is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeannette; his mother, Maxine King; his three children, Randy King and wife Lori of Kirksville, Tim King and wife Lisa of Greentop, MO, and Patti Craig and husband Ralph of Bayou Vista, TX; seven grandchildren, Alisha Rinne and husband Kyle, Erin Soligo and husband Shane, Katie Allen and husband Kyle, Heather King, Samantha King, Jordan King, and Christian King; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Rinne; one sister, Debbie Southards; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronal was preceded in death by his father on March 9, 1979, and a brother in childhood.

He attended the Sheridan Schools and graduated high school with the class of 1958. Ronal and Jeannette lived in St. Joseph, MO after their marriage. In 1973 they moved to rural Greentop were he was manager of the MFA Fertilizer Plant. Ron retired in 2002 after 43 years with MFA.

He was a member of the Sheridan Christian Church. He was one of the founders of the Greentop Fire Department and was the Fire Chief for several years. He also served on the Greentop City Council several years, and was instrumental in re-doing the city park at that time. Ronal worked endless hours to assist the farmers during planting and harvest tine. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and his dog Holly. He loved all his family very much.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday ( December 22, 2012) at the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Greentop Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gary Davis, Kevin King, Kelly Blacksmith, Skip Herleth, Bob Baker, and Ted Elder. Honorary bearers will be Richard Byrd, Marvin Gregory, Patrick Proctor, and Bob Collis.

Visitation will be held Saturday (December 22, 2012) from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at the
