David Hicks David Hicks, 49, of Livonia, MO, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, after an extended illness.
David Edward Hicks was born in Unionville, MO, on June 22, 1963, the son of Samuel Richard and Ozetta (McDannald) Hicks. He was reared and lived his entire life in Putnam County, Missouri. On June 8, 1990, he married Lynnette Brown at Omaha, Missouri. David and Lynnette farmed in eastern Putnam County during their married life where David raised sheep, hogs, longhorns and operated a dairy. David enjoyed hunting and trapping with several close friends. He liked to coon hunt and he liked his mules. David was a hard worker who took pride in his work and was successful in operating a diversified farming operation. He had a strong sense of responsibility to his family, including nieces and nephews. David was a man who, although private, was loving and generous to those close to him. He had accepted Christ as his savior in November of 1991 and attended Omaha Baptist Church. David had a good sense of humor and lived life with a strong will and determination.
David is survived by his wife, Lynnette; a daughter Amanda Overton and her husband Kyle of Unionville, MO; and his son Zachariah Hicks of Livonia, MO. David is also survived by his granddaughter, Abigail Overton, his “Gabby Girl.” Other survivors include his father, Richard Hicks and his wife Jane of Unionville, MO; his mother, Ozetta Hicks of Livonia, MO; father-in-law Gail Brown and wife Velma of Livonia, MO; mother-in-law Janet Shenefield of Unionville, MO; brothers Richard Lee Hicks of Chariton, IA; and Kevin Hicks and wife Marci of Allen Park, MI; and sister Reta Long and husband Jerry of Centerville, IA.
David was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Gary Sander and Matthew Brown.
Funeral service for David Hicks will be at 10:30 at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Saturday, January 12, 2013.
There will be no visitation prior to the service, but friends and family will be welcomed at a meal at Omaha Baptist Church following the interment. Burial will be at the Mitchell Cemetery north of Livonia, MO.
Memorials for David are suggested to Hospice of Northeast Missouri and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th, Unionville, Mo 63565.
