Paul L. McCartney
Paul L. McCartney 85, of Kirksville passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the Twin Pines Adult Center in Kirksville.
The son of Rolla V. and Eva Myrtle (Gillispie) McCartney, Paul was born April 4, 1927 in Kirksville, MO. In 1951 he was united in marriage to Betty Major and she passed away in 1956.
On October 5, 1957 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Phyllis Cunningham who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Steven McCartney of Kirksville, Bruce and Paula McCartney of Kirksville and Bobby and Debbie McCartney of Kirksville; three grandchildren, Briana McCartney of Columbia, MO, Dalton McCartney and Brice McCartney of Kirksville and two nieces, Shelia McCartney of Kirksville and Teresa Kay McCartney of Minneapolis, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph McCartney and one sister, Helen McCartney.
Paul was reared in Kirksville where he attended Benton school and the Kirksville High School. He entered the U.S. Navy and served from February, 1944 to August, 1946. He was employed at Baiotto Concrete from 1959 to 1989. Paul was interested in race and antique cars and was a member of the NEMO Car Club in Kirksville. He enjoyed showing his cars.
Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil Jones officiating. Entombment will be at a later date in Park View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Kirksville.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m Wednesday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
