Greg Haines, 43, passed away suddenly at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
Gregory Dean Haines was born in Unionville, MO, on August 15, 1969, the son of Harold Dean and Marilyn (Glaspie) Haines. He was reared in Unionville with the class of 1987. He soon joined the United States Army after his school years and then enlisted in the Iowa National Guard. He was deployed once to South Korea and also assisted on flood duty. He was a member of the National Guard Color Guard.
Greg spent most of his working career as a truck driver. He drove over-the-road semis as well as being a school bus driver and driving other type trucks. He was working for M & P Trucking in Unionville at the time of his death. Greg was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting, fishing and horseback riding. Greg also loved people and had an outgoing, happy-go-lucky view of life. He was a good friend, willing to always lend a hand. He enjoyed watching all things Star Trek on TV and loved spending time with his children.
Greg is survived by his wife, Kim Haines of Livonia, MO, and children, Trevar Haines, Megan Haines, Taylor Barton, and Jordan Gilworth. He is also survived by a grandson, Ayden Mullaney, and by his mother, Marilyn Haines, of Worthington, MO. A brother, Loren Haines and wife Mendy, of Unionville, MO, also survive as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Greg was preceded in death by his father, Harold Dean Haines, in 1998.
Funeral services for Greg Haines will be at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, Unionville, MO, at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 16, 2013. Interment will at the Martinstown Cemetery, Martinstown, MO.
