Imogean Flanagan age 87, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center.


The daughter of Granvil and Christena (Jones) Creason, Imogean was born May 14, 1925 in Sullivan County, MO. On April 12, 1944 in Manchester, TN she was united in marriage to Donald “Puff” Flanagan who preceded her in death on September 4, 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Anna Mae Brown.


Imogean is survived by one son, Michael Flanagan and wife, Lana of Independence, MO; two daughters, Carolyn Catlett and husband, Ray of Kirksville and Linda Cipponeri and husband Vito of St. Louis, MO; eight grandchildren, Mike Flanagan and wife, Kim of Clarksville, TN, Lee Flanagan and wife Sheri of Independence, MO, Shannon Sullivan and husband, Jay of Norman, OK, Shayna Givens of Tulsa, OK, Ivy Pellerito and husband Fred of Belton, MO, Loren Clifton of St. Joseph, MO, Christy Huels and husband Ed of Overland Park, KS, Denisa Lake and husband Tom of Lenexa, KS; eleven great-grandchildren, Olivia and Elliot Huels, Jake Sullivan, Emery and Kylie Farnsworth, Dakwon and Trey Flanagan, Lexie ,Blaine, and Roscoe Flanagan, Wyatt Lake and Magraw Givens; two great-great-granchildren, Aiden and Logan Bousman and one sister, Elverean Logston of Ames, IA.


Imogean was reared in the Sullivan County, MO area where she graduated from Green City High School. She attended Northeast Missouri Teacher’s College and taught in Harlan and Green Castle schools. She also did substitute teaching in other schools until 1951. While teaching in the rural schools she met Donald who was a bus driver for the schools. During World War II she worked a short period of time at an Air Force Factory in New York. She returned to the Kirksville area and was employed at International Shoe Factory as a Bookkeeper/ Payroll Clerk. Later she worked at Burroughs, retiring in 1987.


She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kirksville, Women of the Moose, Senior Circle, RSVP and the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. Imogean was a loving mother, grandmother and a wonderful mother-in-law.


Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Pitney officiating. Musical selections were “This Is My Temporary Home”, “When I Get Where I Am Going” and “You Raise Me Up”. Burial was in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, MO.


Pallbearers were Ed Huels, Ronnie Logston, Robbie Logston, Michael Flanagan, Lee Flanagan and Vito Cipponeri.


Visitation with the family was held from 10:00 Monday morning until the time of the service at the
