Warren “Tite” Stark

Warren G. “Tite” Stark, 92, of Powersville, MO passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia after a brief illness.

Tite was born on August 1, 1920, the son of William Levi and Mary Anna (Starr) Stark near Powersville, MO. He was united in marriage on September 29, 1940 to Neva Irene Zimmerman who preceded him in death. Tite honorably served in the United States Army during the Second World War. Tite and Neva owned and operated Stark Locker Service for nearly 25 years. In addition to running the extensive family farming operations, Tite also worked as a substitute rural route mail carrier for 28 years and a regular carrier for 13 years. Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow prevented him from delivering the mail to those on his route.

Tite enjoyed his Charolais cattle and had a favorite bull which was tame enough to ride. He also enjoyed his horses, especially his trick horse, Trixie. He raised her from a colt and taught her to react to his voice. Tite loved his family and enjoyed spending time sharing stories with them about his many and varied experiences as a member of our nation’s “Greatest Generation.” In his younger days, he played baseball and basketball, hunted and trapped, and enjoyed country music. Tite liked watching sports, especially Texas Ranger baseball. He was fortunate to have remained independent and strong to the end, living in his own home and continuing to drive. Tite leaves many wonderful memories for his family to cherish.

In addition to his wife, Neva, he was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Gary Warren Stark, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Survivors include son William Perry Stark and wife Sue of Powersville, MO and daughter Sharon Thompson Parks and husband Tom of Unionville, MO. Also surviving are five grandchildren, David Thompson and wife Elaine of Jefferson City, MO; Eric Thompson and wife Angie of Worthington, MO; Perry Stark and wife Sherri of Indianola, IA; Gary Stark and Rick Stark of Powersville, MO. Tite leaves 3 great grandsons Levi Thompson of Unionville, MO; Dustin Stark of Indianola, IA; Rusty Stark and wife Alyson of Indianola IA; and 2 great granddaughters Stormi Vanover and husband Spencer of Cincinnati, OH; and Shadyee Stark of Indianola, IA. Also surviving are 2 great-great granddaughters Kinleigh Jan Vanover and Lola Ann Stark along with many nieces and nephews.
