Keith Hackathorn

Keith Hackathorn, 64, of Corydon, IA, passed away at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, IA, on Saturday, April 13, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer.

Keith Otis Hackathorn was born in Newton, IA, on January 17, 1949, the son of Otis Othanile and Florence Mae (Harrington) Hackathorn, who preceded him in death. He moved to Unionville, MO, with his family as a teenager and attended Unionville High School. After school he worked at the Box Factory and at Heatalator in Centerville, IA. He married Diane Wilcox in Unionville, MO, on June 17, 1982 and she survives at home in Corydon.

Keith and Diane lived in Unionville, MO, from 1985 until 1999 when they moved to Chariton, IA. Keith suffered a severe heart attack in 2001 and was unable to continue work. He and Diane moved to Corydon in 2011.

Keith was a friendly man who liked to visit with people. He loved his family and also took pleasure in fishing and reading westerns, especially Louis L’amour. He was very engaged in buying and selling antiques.

Others who survive Keith are two sons, Joshua Hackathorn and his wife Mary Grace of El Paso, TX, and Jason Hackathorn of Corydon, IA. Four step-grandchildren survive as well as a sister, Delores Golda and her husband Don of Omaha, NE, and several nieces and nephews survive.

Funeral services for Keith Hackathorn will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2013 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Mitchell Cemetery, north of Livonia, MO.
