Evelyn Pearson
Evelyn Pearson, 94, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, MO, on Monday, April 22, 2013.
Evelyn Lucille (Knowles) Pearson was born in Putnam County, MO, on December 18, 1918, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Clara Ellen (Beverage) Knowles, who preceded her in death. Evelyn attended country schools and then town school in Unionville.
Evelyn married Harry Pearson in Unionville, MO, on May 19, 1935, and they lived in Unionville their entire life. Harry preceded Evelyn in death on February 17, 1988. Two sons were born to this union, Harry Joe and Paul David Pearson. Harry Joe was killed in a wreck June 16, 1978, leaving a void in Harry and Evelyn’s life.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Crawford and her daughter Cindy and spouse of Independence, MO; son Paul D. Pearson and wife Wanda J.of Excelsior Springs, MO; six grandchildren: Steven Joe Pearson and wife Vickie, Debra Ellen (Pearson) Hollon and husband Robbie, Timothy Edward Pearson and wife Cindy, all of Unionville, MO; John Paul Pearson and friend of Kansas City, MO, Michelle Odell and husband Jeffrey of Gladstone, MO, and Melissa ReneWetzel and husband Clayton of Excelsior Springs, MO. Evelyn’s eight great grandchildren are Matthew Lee Pearson, Charlie Joe and Mason Lee Pearson, all of Unionville, MO; Dustin Pearson and Peyton Mitchell Wetzel of Excelsior Springs, MO; Keegan and Tarryn Odell of Gladstone, MO. Her great-great granddaughters are Kloye May Pearson and Aubrey Lee Pearson of Unionville, MO. Also surviving are daughter-in-law Patty (Pearson) Boland and sister-in-law Cleta Knowles of Unionville, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Others who preceded Evelyn in death are four brothers, Casey, Wayne, Junior and Jimmy Knowles; a brother-in-law, Robert Del Crawford and his daughter Sherrie Adams; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mamie Pearson, Bertha and Herman Osborne, Chess and Grace Pearson, Jim and Ethel Pearson, Tom and Lyida Pearson, and Tim Pearson, as well as mother and father-in-law George and Maude Pearson and sister-in-law Dorothy Knowles.
Evelyn and Harry owned and operated Pearson Produce for years. Both their sons worked for them, along with other men. After Harry passed away Evelyn devoted her life and time working in her yard and with flowers. She enjoyed her four great grandsons to the fullest, as the lived nearby. She also enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart and eating lunch with her daughter-in-law Patty at Sonic. She liked doing yard work with her granddaughter Debbie. She also enjoyed picnics, barbecues, and holiday dinners with the family. She was always ready to go on road trips with Tim, Cindy and the boys.
The family will all agree she was a great person as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and mother-in-law. She was a very strong believer in God and never used bad language. She was truly devoted to her husband and family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. May the flowers bloom in heaven for her.
Funeral services for Evelyn Pearson will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Unionville Cemetery and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
