Lily Janetta Smith

Janetta Smith, 74 of Queen City passed
away Thursday night (May 24, 2013) in the Schuyler County Nursing Home where
she had been patient for a short time.

The daughter of Orval and
Golda (Veach) Rowland, she was born May 29, 1938, in Putnam County, MO. On April 1, 1953 she was
united in marriage to Ronald Cain and to this union five children were born.

Janetta grew up in Putnam County and
attended school there. She worked in the
Quad Cities for a number of years before moving back to the Schuyler County
area in 1972. She then worked in Kirksville at the Florsheim Shoe Co., retiring
in 2000.

She was married to Red Mayfield in the
late 1960's and he preceded her in death. She was married to Jack Smith on
October 19, 1985 and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2011. Also
preceding her in death were one son, Dennis Cain in 2006, her parents, three
brothers, Jack Rowland, Lowell Rowland, and Don Rowland, two sister, LaVee
Mathes, and Melba Rowland and one niece,
Billie Jean Calef.

Janetta is survived by four children,
Linda McElroy and husband Wayne of Queen City, MO, Curtis Cain of Polo, MO,
Teresa Kaiser and husband Rick of Macon, MO, and
Thomas Cain of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Loretta Cherry of Las Vegas, NV,
and two brothers, Loren (Bill) Rowland and wife Betty of Queen City, and Jerry
Rowland and wife Jill of Queen City; seven grandchildren, Stacy Farley and
husband Rob of Lancaster, Shannon Partin and
wife Julie of Downing, Cameron Partin and wife Kelli of Novinger, Trista Hale and husband Ryan of
Kirksville, Alison Burt of Kansas City, Shailee Kerr of Baldwin, WI, and
Lindsey Ellis and husband Caleb of Stanberry, MO, seventeen great grandchildren;
two special nieces, Sissy Koger, and Wenona Cherry, and several nephews.

Janetta enjoyed sewing,
quilting, outdoor activities, going to Las Vegas to see her sister, and Sunday morning breakfast in Kirksville
with her brothers.

At her request she will be cremated and
there will be no service. Private burial will be held at a later date.
