Ruth Irene Farmer
Ruth Irene Farmer 89, of Queen City passed away Friday evening (June 7, 2013) at Northeast Regional Medical Center where she had been a patient for weeks.
The daughter of William and Fannie Sparks, she was born November 2, 1923 in Worthington, Missouri. On May 16, 1942 in Lancaster, Missouri she was united in marriage to Rondy Lee Farmer who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one brother, Don Sparks and sister, Loeta Rockhold both of Queen City; one son, Donald Lee Farmer and wife Kim of Glenwood, MO; one daughter, Beverly Diltz and husband Jeff of Queen City, MO; and an adopted son, Stanley Symons and wife Susanne of Port Byron, IL; four grandsons, Donnie, David and wife Chandra, and Dustin Farmer and Stephen Hinrichs and wife Shea; one granddaughter, Donia Diltz; two adopted grandchildren, Sonia and Scott Symons, and 15 great-grandchildren; and special nephew, Ralph Farmer, and Nichole Conner "granddaughter".
Also preceding her in death are her parents, three brothers, Roy, Lloyd and Eamery Sparks, a sister, Dorothy Ogle, and a grandson, Derrick Diltz.
Ruth grew up in the Worthington, Missouri area graduating from Worthington High School. After school she moved to Rockford, IL and worked for a munitions factory. She met Rondy in Rockford and they were later married and moved to Missouri. They lived in Davenport, Iowa for many years, then moved back to Schuyler County in the 1980s, where they resided until their deaths.
Ruth and Rondy were members of the Westside Assembly of God Church in Davenport until they moved to Missouri where they faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Queen City as long as their health permitted.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (June 12, 2013) at the Dooley Funeral Chapel with Pastor Larry Groom officiating, assissted by Pastor Sonny Smyser. Music will be provided by the Shroyer Family of Ottumwa, Iowa. Interment will be in the Pleasant Home Cemetery west of Worthington, Missouri.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Diltz, David Farmer, Donnie Farmer, Dustin Farmer, Stephen Hinrichs, Randy Ogle, Stanley Symons, and Scott Symons. Honorary bearers Donia Diltz, Mike Sparks and Ralph Farmer.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening with the family receiving friends at that time in the D ooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Missouri 660-766-2241
