Martha Ann (Taylor) Bartter

Martha was born in Oakland, CA on December
15, 1932.
She is predeceased by her parents, Lewis and
Ethel Taylor and her first husband, Robert Bradley Bartter.
She is survived by her loving husband, C.
Andrew Hilgartner; devoted children: Carol (Marc) Lowy, Brad (Suk) Bartter,
Barbara Bartter and Kenneth (Sharon) Bartter; grandchildren: Jessica (Michael)
Rheinschmidt, Derrick (Casey) Bartter, Cristin Bartter, Jeffrey Lowy, Michael
Bartter, Isabelle Bartter, Evan Bartter, Elizabeth Bartter, Judy Huff and Joe
Huff; and Great Granddaughters: Tallis Rheinschmidt and Alice Bartter.
Martha earned her PhD from the University of
Rochester. She taught at the University of Rochester, the Ohio State
University at Marion, and Truman State University. Martha always enjoyed music
and toured Europe twice with the Rochester Oratorio Society. Martha wrote
science fiction and had works published in several magazines. She was the
Treasurer for a National Science Fiction convention. Martha was also a
member of Mensa. Martha collaborated with Andy, exploring theoretical
general semantics.
The service will be held on Sunday (June 23,
2013) at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
