David Dean Conyers

David Dean Conyers, age 77, of Columbia, MO, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, at his home in Columbia, MO.
He was born November 5, 1935, in Independence, MO, the son of David R. and Marion Alice Barnard Conyers.
He was united in marriage to Coe Ann Bailey and to this union five children were born. On December 19, 1987, he married Marie Spinella and she preceded him in death. David was also preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Skip Conyers.
Surviving are five children, Mark Conyers of Kirksville, MO, Steve Conyers of Kirksville, MO, Mike and Sherri Conyers of Columbia, MO, David and Sherri Conyers of Kansas City, MO and Chris Conyers of Georgia, one brother Doug and Judy Conyers of Wisconsin, five grandchildren, Justin and Jessi Conyers, Josh Conyers, Cory Conyers, Ryan and Quinton Conyers, two great grandchildren, Kenley and Kason Conyers, and several nieces and nephews.
David started grade school at Independence, MO, moved to Columbia, MO and after three years moved to Kirksville, MO, where he graduated from Kirksville Senior High School in 1953. While in High School he played football and basketball and was All State in 1952 and 1953. He then attended Kirksville State Teachers College in Kirksville where as a freshman he was a starting basketball player.
After college David went to work for the Mexico, MO Police Department for several years. He then became employed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. David then graduated from Banking School and worked for the Bank of Kirksville. Later he became Deputy Sheriff of Adair County, MO and then became Deputy Marshall. David then moved to Las Vegas, NV where he was employed at the convention center for the Las Vegas Police Department.
After his retirement David moved back to Columbia, MO where he was currently residing.
David was a member of Kirksville Lodge # 105 A.F. & A.M., the York Rite Masonic Bodies, Caldwell Chapter # 53, Ely Commandary # 22, Kirksville Council # 44 of Kirksville, MO, and the Moila Shrine Temple at St. Joseph, MO.
Visitation will be held at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, with Masonic Services being conducted by Kirksville Lodge # 105 A.F. & A.M. at 3 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Following the Masonic Services David’s wishes are to be cremated. There will be no services. Burial will be held at a later date.
Memorials in memory of David Conyers may be made to Shriner’s Hospital. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 East Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO, 63501.
