Loretta Jane Goodyear

Loretta Goodyear, 66, of Unionville, MO, passed away suddenly at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville on Friday, July 12, 2013.

Loretta Jane (Olson) was born in Readstown, WI, on April 4, 1947, the daughter of Otto Wesley and Lillian Jane (Turner) Olson, who preceded her in death. Her family moved to Iowa when she was a toddler, but then returned to Wisconsin where they bought a farm that Loretta lived on for over 40 years. She married Walter Dean Goodyear, Sr., in 1972 and he preceded her in death on July 31, 1988.

Loretta was a stay-at-home mom for most of her adult life, also caring for her parents until her mother’s death. She moved to Unionville, MO, in 2010 to be near family. She loved to garden and could make crafts out of almost anything. She was very creative with a number of different items. She liked to read, especially Harlequin romances. Loretta was a good story teller and her family will treasure all her stories. Loretta lived a simple life, and her family was the center of it. She loved to be with her kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren.

Loretta is survived by four sons, Jay Olson and wife Jennifer of Hartford, WI; Walter Dean Goodyear, Jr., and fiancé Melissa Wampler, of Oxford, WI; John Goodyear of Unionville, MO; and Robert Goodyear and wife Jessica of Unionville, MO; and a daughter, Linda Baumann and husband Larry of Westfield, WI. Twenty grandchildren and five great grandchildren survive as well as a brother, Wesley Olson of Adams, WI, and a sister, Almeda Roberts of Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

Loretta was also preceded in death by a son, Darren Olson, who died in infancy.

Loretta’s wishes were to be cremated and a memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in Wisconsin. Arrangements are under the direction of Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, Unionville, MO.
