Cordelia "Cordie" Sylvester Jungers, age 101 of Kirksville, (formerly Green Castle) passed away Friday, July 26, 2013.
Cordelia Houston was born near Selmer, TN to George and Mozell Houston on February 13, 1912. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, a beloved son, William Sylvester, a son-in-law, Duke Moore, & two husbands, Holton Sylvester & Fred Jungers.
She is survived by daughter Opal Moore, of Kirksville, her granddaughters, Paula Moore of Kirksville & Nancy Moore of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving is a son, Lowell "Milt" Sylvester of Cambria, CA & his wife, Melanee, and granddaughters, Kellie, Andrea, & Tracey. She had eight grandchildren (all girls) & numerous great & great, great grandchildren.
Her church family includes Reverend Earl Baker & Reverend Hal Baker & their families of Green Castle, Missouri.
Cordelia lived in Missouri & Illinois most of her married life. She lived in Green Castle for 22 years, taking an active part in Grace Bible Baptist Church. Her hobby was collecting dolls. She loved to rescue broken and torn dolls, repair & make clothes for them. In her late 60's, her eyesight failed her, but she continued sewing & making quilts into her 90's.
She spent the last six years of her life in Twin Pines Nursing Home before her health declined.
Graveside service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday (July 29, 2013) at Park View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Reverend Earl Baker and Reverend Hal Baker officiating. Entombment will be in Park View Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
