Dorothy F. Kittle
Dorothy Faye Kittle, 95 of Greentop passed away Monday (August 5, 2013) at the Schuyler County Nursing Home.
The daughter of Glenn and Zola (Gardner) Waddill, she was born August 23, 1917 southeast of Brashear, MO. On July 1, 1939 she was united in marriage to Perry Elijah Kittle at Canton, MO and he preceded her in death on October 28, 2000.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Leonard Waddill; sisters-in-law, Avalee Waddill, Jewell and Dale Smith, Grace and Harold Martin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jesse and Waneta Kittle and brother-in-law, John Weinberg.
Dorothy is survived by niece, Sandra and Duane Patterson of Brashear; nephew, Robert and Kay Waddill of Harrison, AR; great nephew, Brent and Amy Waddill and family of Clarksville, AR; brother-in-law, Lee and Lora Kittle and family of Novinger; sister-in-law, Lena and Marion Mauck of Galesburg, IL. Also surviving are Mary Greenstreet and family of Queen City, special friend, April Higby of Greentop, all good neighbors and many cousins.
Dorothy attended grade school at Normal Mound, graduated from Brashear High School in 1935, Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in 1963, The American Technical Society Business School of Chicago in 1936. She taught school for 39 years plus four months and it was the love of her life.
Dorothy was a member of the Sabbath Home Church and the Kirksville Area Retired Teachers Association. While teaching she received an award in 1974 as an “Outstanding Teacher of America” based on professional and civic achievements.
She and her husband were past members of the Northeast Missouri Trail Riders and Schuyler County Trail Riders. They liked to square dance, roller skate, play cards, visit with relatives, neighbors and friends, go on bus tours to all states except Hawaii, all provinces of Canada and Northwest Territories.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday (August 10, 2013) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
