Elfie Zeigler
Elfie Opal Zeigler age 91 of Kirksville passed away Tuesday (August 13, 2013) in Kirksville.
Elfie was born on July 31, 1922 in Western Adair County, the daughter of John and Nellie Bishop Dimmitt. On September 2, 1940 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Carl D. Zeigler who preceded her in death on December 17, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Carla Kay Rahn; four sisters, Velma Loch, Trella Parmley, Bessie Nations and Hazel Dimmitt and one brother, Cecil Dimmitt.
Elife is survived by one son, Dennis (Denny) Zeigler of Kirksville and several nieces and nephews.
Elife was reared in Western Adair County and attended Elm Grove School. She worked along with her husband on their farm in western Adair County, raising cattle and hogs. She enjoyed going to actives in the Pure Air Community. In recent years she looked forward to the Wednesday lunch bunch. She was devoted to her family and had provided care for her mother, father, husband, daughter and Frona Zeigler. Her family was a very important part of her life and she was very fond of her dogs.
Funeral service will be held Friday (August 16, 2013) at 2:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Nations officiating. Musical selections will be “In The Garden” and “Amazing Grace”. Interment will be in the Pratt Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Byrn, Margaret Sapp, Bobby Hartsock, Dennis Zeigler, Jeannie Eagen and Wanda Hartsock.
The family will receive friends for 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
