Jaunita Detwiler
Jaunita I. Detwiler, 86 of Kirksville passed
away Saturday (August 17, 2013) at Twin Pines Adult Care Center. The daughter of William C. and Anna (Mason)
Bennett, she was born September 14, 1926 in Kirksville, MO. On September 7,
1946 in Kansas City, MO she was united in marriage to Billy E. Detwiler and he
preceded her in death on January 25, 2013. She was also preceded in death by
her parents and one brother, William Donald Bennett. Jaunita is survived by two daughters, Vicky
Williams and husband John of Kirksville and Joyce Kerwin and husband Paul of
Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Tanya and Kevin Playle, Amy and Aaron Dent, Brian
Snodgrass and Jeff and Amy Snodgrass; great grandchildren, Zachary Playle,
Ashley Playle, Andrew Dent, Addison Dent, Haley, Bradley, Ryan, Hannah and
Zachary Snodgrass; sister-in-law, Mary Maye Bennett of Kirksville; nephews,
Billy and Bonnie Bennett of Brashear and David and Laurie Bennett of Richland,
IA; great nieces and nephews, Adam, Alex, Austin and Avery Bennett, Paula
Clarkson, Bambi Fox, and Chuck Laird; brother-in-law, Ronald Detwiler of
Independence, MO and special cousin, Helen DeLaney. Jaunita was raised in Kirksville and
graduated from the Kirksville High School with the class of 1944. She worked
for International Shoe Factory, Montgomery Ward, Bank of Kirksville and then
for Twin Pines Adult Care Center until she retired in 1992. She was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, a past member of Women of the Moose and was active with the
Kirksville Alumni Association. She was an avid MU basketball fan and enjoyed
watching Cardinal baseball. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the
joy of her life. Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday (August 25, 2013) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with
Reverend Richard Northcutt officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial
Gardens. Pallbearers will be Aaron Dent, Andrew Dent,
Kevin Playle, Zachary Playle, Brian Snodgrass, Jeff Snodgrass, Billy Bennett,
David Bennett, Bradley Snodgrass, Ryan Snodgrass and Zachary Snodgrass. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00
to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233 Memorials in memory of Jaunita can be made
to the First United Methodist Church or the Twin Pines Residents Christmas
Fund.
