Charles D. Rhoads
Charles D. Rhoads 70, of Queen City passed away unexpected Saturday (August 31, 2013) in Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville.
The son of Kenneth Edward and Anna Marie (Beary) Rhoads, he was born October 21, 1942, in Queen City, Missouri. On December 25, 1964 he was united in marriage to Patsy Starbuck and to this union three children were born, Debra Lynn, Toni Marie, and Michael.
Charles is survived by his wife, Patsy; his daughters, Debra and husband Robert Hughes Jr. of St. Louis, MO and Toni Rhoads of Queen City; and son, Michael Rhoads and significant other Jacinda Rogers of Queen City; seven grandchildren, Courtney Holton, Ava Hughes, Tyler McGoldrick, Nicholas Rhoads, Aaron C. Hughes, Lucas Rhoads, and Savannah Rhoads; one brother, John Rhoads of Queen City; two sisters, Pat Wheeler and husband Richard of Queen City, and Susie King and husband Steve of Kirksville; one aunt, Thomasene Shriver of Kirksville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Charles attended the Queen City Public School graduating with the class of 1961. Following high school he went to Omaha, Nebraska where he attended Omaha Technical School for Auto Body Work. Charles and Patsy lived their entire married life in Queen City. He worked for Guffey’s Auto Shop in Kirksville for two years and Beeler Motor Co. in Lancaster for eight years before starting his own business, Chucks Body Shop in 1978 which he was still operating at the of his death.
He attended the Hamilton Street Baptist Church in Kirksville. Charles was an avid sportsman. He enjoyed truck and tractor pulls, racing and watching his grandchildren's sports events.
Funeral service will be Tuesday (September 3, 2013) at 10:00 a.m. at Hamilton Street Baptist Church in Kirksville with Pastor Charles Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery in Queen City, MO
Pallbearers will be Gary Wheeler, Kevin Wheeler, Spencer King, Brian Martin, Darren Starbuck, and Steve Miller. Honorary Bearers will be Lloyd Dufur, Steve Swindler, Greg Guffey, and Cliff Roger.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday (September 2, 2013) at the
Dooley Funeral Home
