Ruth Marie Webb

Ruth Webb, 70, of Unionville, MO, passed away at the North Care Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO, on Thursday, September 5, 2013, after a brief illness.

Ruth Marie (Cook) Webb was born in Kansas City, KS, on March 15, 1943, the daughter of Leroy and Ruth (Cannon) Cook, who preceded her in death. She was reared in Kansas City, KS, graduating from Rosedale High School. She worked for Citi Bank before being united in marriage to James “Jim” Webb in Unionville, MO, on April 7, 1963. Ruth and Jim made their home in Putnam County, MO, the remainder of their married life where they farmed and reared three boys.

Ruth will be remembered as a gracious and kind lady. She will also be well remembered for being a fine cook. She cooked for many clubs and organizations as well as running the Sale Barn Café. She cooked the meat for the Putnam County Fair for a number of years. Her family loved her sweet ice tea, fried potatoes, and fried chicken. Ruth loved to be outside – mowing, gardening, and being around the livestock. She worked in day care for a few years and especially enjoyed caring for her special friend, Kyle Olmstead. She was an excellent seamstress and was a 4-H leader in sewing, gardening and cooking. Ruth was a member of the Busy Bees Homemaker Extension Club, the Red Hat Society, and the First Christian Church in Unionville.

Ruth is survived by her sons: Donald Webb and wife Tracy of Knob Noster, Mo; Shawn Webb and wife Amy of Unionville, MO; and Russell Webb and wife Karrie of Unionville, MO. Her six grandchildren are Robert Fields and wife Tasha, Kenneth Fields and wife Alyssa, Eric Webb, Sara Webb, Justin Webb, and Colton Webb. Great grandchildren are Jasmine Fields, Keagan Fields, and Jackson Fields. Ruth is also survived by a brother, Albert Cook of Oswatomie, KS; and brothers-in-law Mike and Carol Webb of Kingsville, TX; Bob and Wilma Webb of Unionville, MO; and a sister-in-law Phyllis and Gene Lunsford of Green City, MO.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, on February 2, 2001; a brother, Herbert Cook; and a sister, Annabelle McCormick.

Funeral services for Ruth Webb will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 10, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Interment will be at the Union Church Cemetery, Unionville, MO.
