Kenneth Alger
Kenneth Alger, 89 of Kirksville passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at his home.
Kenneth was born on September 28, 1923 in Lewistown, MO, the son of Nile and Mary Ellen (Stinson) Alger. On December 16, 1961 in Kirksville, MO he was united in marriage to Carol Stewart for fifty-one years, who survives.
Kenneth is also survived by his sister, Nilene Perry of Palm Beach, FL; sisters-in-law, Sarah Stitzer and husband Andy of Kirksville, Norma McKim and husband Larry of Brashear, MO; brothers-in-law, Sam Stewart of Adair County, MO, Ted Stewart and wife Glenda of Adair County, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; son, Larry; sister, Betty Ferguson and brother-in-law, Myrl Ferguson.
Kenneth worked on his parent’s farm at an early age. He served in the U.S. Navy, during the World War II. Later he drove bus for the Crosby Bus Line. He then worked at Ferguson Salvage and finally worked 20 years at KCOM-KOH in the housekeeping department before retiring.
Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 2013 at the Forest-Lewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville with Virgil Jones officiating.
