Edward B. “Casper” Christman
Edward Basil “Casper” Christman, 65 of Kirksville passed away Sunday (September 15, 2013) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
The son of Basil T. and Marion Geraldine (Summers) Christman, he was born January 16, 1948 in Chicago, IL. On October 4, 1992 in Kirksville he was united in marriage to Jenny Houghton.
Edward is survived by his mother, Geraldine Gingerich of Kirksville; three children, Dawn Christman of St. Joseph, MO, Joe Christman of Kirksville and Andy (Sherry) Christman of St. Joseph, MO; one brother, Don (Cheryl) Christman of Kirksville; two step children, Matt and Jeff Rusk; 11 grandchildren, Aaron (Roneltha) Christman, Austin Rusk, Ashley Christman, Alexis Martin, Kaleb Christman, Kody Christman, Jessica Martin, Kaden Christman, Kaylee Christman, Andrea Christman and Jackie Christman; one great granddaughter, Leilani Christman; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Troy H. Christman, Oma Marie Christman, and Juanita Daman, his father and one brother, Troy Michael Christman.
Edward grew up in Kirksville and Casper, WY. He attended school in Greentop and graduated from high school in Casper, WY. He worked from McDonald Douglas in St. Louis. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 serving in Germany until his discharge in 1971. He worked for Avco Finance in Kirksville, drove a truck for Gingerich Trucking, Elite Trucking and worked for Thompson TV until moving to Cheyenne, WY where he worked for Cheyenne Transit Program in Cheyenne, WY until he retired.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Molia Temple in St. Joseph, MO and the Central Church of Christ in Kirksville. He enjoyed playing pool, woodworking, fishing and riding his motorcycle.
Visitation with the family will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (September 19, 2013) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday with Dan Todd officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Cliff Jordan, Dennis Wilson, Robert Mountain, Jeff Rusk, Jeff Dobbins, and Tommy Smith. Honorary pallbearers Dean Eggers and Spike Caton.
