Gail (Schmidt) Tucker

Gail Tucker, 78, of Kirksville passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013.

Gail was born in St. Louis, MO, to Herbert Schmidt and Claudine (Sauls) Schmidt. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, she attended Harris Teacher’s College and then received her BS degree at Mizzou. She moved to Riverside, CA, to work as an English Teacher and met her soul mate of 50 years, Robert Tucker.

As a military spouse for 30 years, she led an extremely busy life. She orchestrated at least 15 family moves, earned a Masters degree and worked as Executive Director Omaha Council for Girl Scouts. She also owned a dance school, was director of advertising for two newspapers, and choreographed and directed musical reviews, receiving support from the Air Force Band and professional entertainers.

In the last 20 years she was an actor in the community theater in Newburg, MO; was involved in Show Boat Theater and directed several musicals in Hermann, MO and published two books by the Brotherhood of God; “The Open Ways of Understanding the Truth in the Earth” and “The Way of Love in the Earth”. She was a talented artist and enjoyed playing bridge with friends in Unionville and Centerville. Most recently she had been leading senior physical education classes in Kirksville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tucker in 2009.

Gail is survived by three children, Robert M. Tucker of Kirksville, MO, Julie R. Tucker of Los Angeles, CA and Kelley D. Flint (Tucker) and her companion Reinhard Lind of Germany; three grandchildren, Michael A. Flint, Daniel A. Flint and James A Flint, and two cats, Mr. PV and Tootsie.

A memorial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (October 1, 2013) at the Presbyterian Church in Centerville, Iowa. Burial will be on Thursday (October 3, 2013) at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
