Alma M. Hatter
Alma M. Hatter, 96 of Kirksville passed away Thursday (October 3, 2013)
at Twin Pines Adult Care Center.
The daughter of Huber and Amy “Dolly” (Freeman) England, she was born
February 19, 1917 in Oakwood, OK. On July 31, 1935 in Fairview, OK she was united
in marriage to Marvin Hatter and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1996. She
was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Bob
England; and one sister, Edna Parrish.
Alma is survived by two sons, Dale Hatter and wife Donna of Huntley, IL
and Richard Hatter and wife Sharon of Kirksville; one daughter, Laverna Stone
and husband Cletus of Marion, IA; six grandchildren, Lecia McNaughton, Shari Renner,
Tom Hatter, Kimberly Drury, Laura Rathke and Michael Stone; eight great
grandchildren, Jacob McNaughton, Eryk Drury, Kierstyn Drury, Craig Hatter,
Nathan Hatter, Alexis Rathke, Emma Rathke and Quinn Stone.
Alma moved to Knox County in 1948 from Oklahoma. She and Marvin were engaged
in farming on the family farm until moving to Edina in 1974 where she worked at
the I.G.A. Grocery Store, Kinsel’s and the Knox County Nursing Home as a cook.
She moved to Kirksville in 1981.
She was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church and was an
R.S.V.P. volunteer. She enjoyed quilting, crochet, cross stitch, ceramics and
camping.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday (October 7, 2013) at
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jackson
officiating. Burial will be in Colony Cemetery in Colony, MO.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday at the
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home
