"H.D." Hubert Dale Guffey 85 of Kirksville passed away Monday October 14 th , 2013.

Hubert was born October 9 th , 1928 in Stahl, MO, the only son of James Ray Guffey and Gretchen (Branstetter) Guffey.

He is survived by one son, Greg Guffey and wife Lori; one granddaughter, Chloey Deray Guffey, all of Kirksville; one sister, Marlys Sloan of Sellersburg, IN; nephew, Brent Bush and wife Dawn of Memphis, TN; niece, Debra Willoughby and husband Jeff of Houston, TX; nephew, Brett Bush and wife Deanna of Memphis, TN; and niece, Denise Unruh and husband Don of Louisville, KY.

Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Coleen Guffey Bush; plus two brothers-in-law, Maurice Bush and Donald Sloan.

Hubert started work at an early age helping his father with the family farming operations. His passion and interest in the automotive field prompted him to rebuild and refinish a magnitude of motor vehicles. He owned and operated auto service facilities in Novinger and Kirksville until opening his auto collision business in Greentop, MO during the early 1960's. In 1967, Hubert moved to Kirksville where he opened the H.D. Guffey Honda and Kawasaki Sales & Service motorcycle dealerships selling hundreds of motorcycles and ATV's to customers in the Kirksville area and surrounding communities. In 1974 he moved to Magnolia, Arkansas and opened another Honda dealership, Magnolia Honda Sales & Service. "H.D." was always well received by the people he met over the years and was eagerly willing to help out a friend or even a stranger any way he could. Hubert was a perfectionist with his automotive talents and will always be remembered as a good Father, Grandfather, and Uncle. He attended the Hamilton Street Baptist church in Kirksville.

It was Hubert's wishes to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (October 19, 2013) the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
