John G. Eason

John G. Eason, 77 passed away Saturday (November 2, 2013) at his home in Queen City.

The son of Hatch and Lillian (Scurlock) Eason, he was born October 17, 1936 at the family farm home in the Jimtown community eight miles northwest of Queen City, Missouri. On August 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Lois L. Mullins who survives. They lived on the same farm in the Jimtown community the first fifty years of their married life, before moving to Queen City in November 2010.

John is survived by his wife; two sons, John W. Eason and wife Tammy of Queen City and Gordon L. Eason and wife Tammy of Queen City; a nephew, John Dirks and family of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers-in-law, Gilbert Mullins and Glen Mullins and wife Marlene; two sisters-in-law, Mary Clark and husband Bob of Tacoma, WA and Thelma Mullins of Novinger, MO; and a host of cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Hilda Eason; a special brother-in-law, Mac Mullins; and many Aunts and Uncles.

He attended the Jimtown Elementary School and the Lancaster High School, graduating with the class of 1954. In addition to full time farming for 50 plus years John served his country for six years in the Missouri Army National Guard, Battery B 128 th Field Artillery 35 th Army Division. He served thirty-three years on the Community F.S.A. committee and county F.S.A. Board. He was in the American Legion for thirty years and served many years on the Jimtown Cemetery Board. He was a member of Gideons International.

John accepted Jesus Christ as His Lord and Savior in April 1989, and served the Lord in the Bethel Church and the Worthington Baptist Church as an ordained Deacon. He loved to do behind the scenes work in his church. He moved his membership to the Queen City Baptist Church in January 2011 where he continued his work for the Lord.

His hobbies were old John Deere tractors, primitive tools, deer hunting, and garden work.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (November 6, 2013) at the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Jimtown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Scurlock, Eddie Berry, Rhett Mullins, Wendel Gehrke, Paul Crossgrove, Eric Grgurich, and Winifred Byrn. Honorary Bearers will be Walter Burnett, Ron Picolet, Bruce Collins, Garry Followwill, and Danny Welte.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
