Thomas Duncan

June 13, 1924 — October 31, 2013

Thomas Duncan, 89, of Unionville, MO passed away peacefully at the North East Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO on October 31, 2013.

Tom Duncan was born in Lucerne, MO on June 13, 1924, the son of Thomas Edward and Hettie Bell Duncan. Tom really enjoyed visiting with his friends and family. He enjoyed fishing and taking trips in his car to interesting areas in the United States. He was especially proud of his Grandchildren and talked about them and his nieces and their families often. Tom will be missed by everyone who knew him. He spent 20 years serving his country in the United States Navy; something he was very honored and proud to do. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, and Grandfather, but mostly loved his wife of 45 years, Maxine Bailey Duncan, with all his heart and his last concern was for her well being.

Tom is survived by his lovely wife and a son, George Bailey and wife Donna of Oswego, IL. Tom’s surviving grandsons are Chris Bailey of Hope Mills, NC, Jim Bailey of Aurora, IL, and Chad Bailey and wife Michelle of Oswego, IL. His five surviving great grandchildren are Noah, Taylor, Jared, Ashley, and Carly Bailey. Tom is also survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Marshall; a very special friend, Joyce Cullum of Unionville, MO; and many loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by a great grandson, James Ray; brother, Cecil Duncan; and sister, Marie Dodson.

Memorials for Tom are suggested to the family and may be entrusted to Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
