Arthur Wilford Hutchison 94, of Kirksville, passed away on November 23, 2013 at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.

Arthur, son of Perry and Bertha Hutchison was born on March 16, 1919 in Denver, MO. On May 22, 1946 in Shelby County, MO he was united in marriage to Byrda Eythel Jerome, who preceded him in death on July 14, 2010.

Arthur is survived by one sister-in-law, Rosalind Jerome of Kirksville; nephews, Keith (Anne) Jerome, Clinton (Mary) Jerome, Eugene (Marsha) Robeson, Jerome (Dawn) Robeson and Michael Robeson; nieces, Neva Joyce Feidler, Carolyn (Carl) Davis, Verla (Evan) Mikel, Elaine (Marvin) Casey, Sharon (Stanley) Doss, Betty (Dennis) Lockwood, Marilyn (Larry) Sharp, Blanche (Daniel) Kelly, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle, Orpha (Jeff) Gunter of Oklahoma, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Arthur was educated in Knox County, MO and was a long time resident of Adair County, mostly in the Trinity community. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where he was active until his health did not permit.

Arthur served in Company I, 301 st Infantry Reg., 94 th Division in France and Germany during World War II. He was a 1 st scout with General George Patton and saw action near Lorient, France in the summer and fall of 1944 and also on the Sigfried Line during the Battle of the Bulge in France and Germany during the winter of 1944/45. Arthur froze his feet during the Battle of the Bulge and was hospitalized for the remainder of the war. He was discharged from the military on the 17 th of February, 1946 as a Private First Class. He served in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre as well as the American Theatre Campaign and was awarded the Good Conduct Metal. A true American hero!

Arthur was happiest on their farm in rural Adair County, taking care of his cattle and the farm. He loved family and friends. Arthur was always there to lend a helping hand and will be missed by his many friends and nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Chapel with Reverend Boyd Halford officiating. Music will be singing of “Life’s Railway to Heaven”, “Precious Memories” and “Peace In The Valley” accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Burial will be in the Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, MO.

Pallbearers will be Keith Jerome, Clinton S. Jerome, Larry Sharp, Daniel Kelly, Kevin Jerome and Stephen Jerome. Honorary Pallbearers will be Troy Jerome, Matthew Jerome, Hobert Frohman and Chase Elliott.

Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. at the
