Evelyn Marie Eitel, 84, of Kirksville, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at her home.

She was born June 2, 1929, the daughter of Forrest Jones and Edith (Schillie) Jones. On August 15, 1953, in Columbia, MO, she was united in marriage to Jimmie Eitel who preceded her in death on December 9, 2010.

She is survived by daughter Charol Goff and husband Doug of Ft. Mill, SC, son, Glen and wife Lori of rural Green Castle, daughter, Marilyn Eagen and husband Gary of House Springs, MO, and daughter, Jean Dudgeon of Kirksville, two brothers, Charles Jones (wife Helen), Donald Jones (wife Rita), and sister Lucille Swisher (husband Donnie). Nine grandchildren: Kesha, (Andy) Cagle of Ft. Mill, SC, Kyle ( Leslie) Eitel of Kirksville, Jessica (Chad) Dillon of Peoria, IL, Ethan (Amanda) Eitel of O’Fallon, MO, Lara (Dustin) Jessee Ft. Mill, SC, Joseph (Connie) Eagen of St. Charles, MO., Christopher Eitel (Jenna Grabiec) of Quincy,IL, Heather Eagen (Brian Andris) of Boulder, CO. and Alissa Eagen (Nolan Korn) of House Springs, MO. Thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie, her parents, sister-in-law Onie Jones, and son-in-law Todd Dudgeon.

Evelyn attended Liberty Rural School and graduated from Novinger High School in 1947. She attended the Kirksville State Teachers College earning her teaching certificate. She taught for three years at the Ringo Point one-room schoolhouse. She then taught second grade at Novinger, Missouri for five years. Evelyn’s dedication to kids and youth continued as she served many years as project and community leader for the Liberty 4-H Club, VBS Director and Sunday School Superintendent. Evelyn was a true farmwife, partnering with husband Jimmie, actively growing their farm operation in western Adair County where they lived their entire married life. Evelyn was dedicated to her faith and her family. She was a member of Pure Air Baptist Church and attended Union Temple Church.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2013 at the Davis-Playle- Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Marty Lowe will officiate. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be: Kyle Eitel, Ethan Eitel, Christopher Eitel, Chad Dillon, Joseph Eagen, Andy Cagle, Dustin Jessee, Brian Andris and Nolan Korn. Honorary bearers will be Kesha Cagle, Lara Jessee, Leslie Eitel, Jessica Dillon, Amanda Eitel, Connie Eagen, Heather Eagen, Alissa Eagen and Jenna Grabiec.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday evening at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
