Doris G. Smith

Doris G. Smith, 90 of Hamilton, MO formerly of Kirksville passed away Thursday (December 5, 2013) at Hillcrest Manor in Hamilton, MO.

The daughter of Carroll L. and Ruby Lee (Churchhill) Miller, she was born April 29, 1923 in Green City, MO. On June 21, 1942 in Kirksville, MO she was united in marriage to Fredrick Harrison Smith Sr. and he preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Fredrick H. Smith Jr., one sister, Martha Rae Sorenson and one brother, Arthur Miller.

Doris is survived by two grandchildren, Anita K. Mast and Fredrick Harrison Smith III; two great grandchildren, Reimi Christine and Lisa Kay Smith; four sisters, Jean Sawyer of Kirksville, Marilee Tharp of Eureka Springs, AR, Frances Francis of Kansas City, MO and Elanor K. Campagna of Addison, IL.

Doris grew up in rural Green Castle, Missouri and attended the Green City High School graduating with the class of 1940. She was a seamstress in the Kirksville area for many years and did pie baking for Rider Drug.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (December 11, 2013) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
