George Strobel

George Frank “Strabel” Strobel, 84 of Kirksville passed away Monday (December 9, 2013) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The son of George and Anna (Fickinger) Strobel, he was born April 18, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI. On February 7, 1970 in Chicago, IL he was united in marriage to Betty Taylor.

George is survived by four children, Mark Strobel and wife Stephanie of Kirksville, Doug Strabel and wife Sue of Milwaukee, WI, Dennis Strabel of Milwaukee, WI and Donna Strabel of Milwaukee, WI; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; two brothers and two sisters.

George grew up in Milwaukee, WI where he graduated High School. He served in the United States Army from 1946 to 1948. He worked as a Machinist and a security guard in Chicago, IL until he retired to care for his wife. He had a great loved for his family. He enjoyed music, watching TV, Cubs baseball and Bears football games and his friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday (December 16, 2013) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
