Kenneth Anders, 81, of Unionville, MO, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, December 15, 2013.

Kenneth Franklin Anders was born December 30, 1931, the son of Ray Clifford and Marie Ozell (Timmons) Anders, who preceded him in death. He married Helen Ilene Buckallew in Unionville, MO, on February 27, 1952, and she survives at home. Six children were born to this union: Cathy, Lesa, Anita, Gary, Kelly, and Tracy.

Kenneth served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. He later worked in Kansas City, MO, as well as McGraw Manufacturing and the Box Factory in Centerville, IA. Most of his working career was spent as the owner and operator of his own welding business where he built a reputation as a fine machinist. In later years Kenneth enjoyed riding around Unionville on his scooter and collecting rocks. He also enjoyed his children and his large extended family.

Those who survive Kenneth besides his wife include daughters Lesa Williams of Kirksville, MO and Anita Shifflet of Marion, OH; and sons, Gary Anders and wife Vicky of Livonia, MO, Kelly Anders and wife Carol of Corydon, IA, and Tracy Anders of Kirksville, MO. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. A sister, Betty Dooley and her husband Larry, of Promise City, IA, also survive.

Kenneth was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Williams and two brothers, Clifford Lavern and Larry Anders, and a sister, Ruby Carey

Funeral services for Kenneth Anders will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at 1:00 pm with visitation on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Burial will be at the Pherigo Cemetery, Unionville, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
