Myron Crawford, 98 of Kirksville passed away Sunday (January 19, 2014) at Kirksville Manor Care.

He was born July 13, 1915 in Gibbs, MO, the son of William Everett and Nellie (Conklin) Crawford. On March 23, 1940 in LaPlata, MO he was united in marriage to Arlene Helm.

Myron is survived by his wife of 73 years; his daughter, Carol Huseman and husband Norman of Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, Tim Huseman and wife Greta of Springfield, IL, Heidi Harris and husband Brian of Quincy, IL and Gretchen Dunn and husband Drew of Olathe, KS; six great grandchildren, Alex and Ben Harris, Reagan and Allison Dunn, Henry and Emma Huseman; one sister, Helen Dye of Kansas City, MO; two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Homer and Harold, and a niece.

Myron attended the Oak Dale and Brashear schools. He entered the United States Army in 1943 serving in Germany and France. He was wounded and honorably discharged in 1945, upon receiving the Purple Heart. He was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad for 31 years; retiring in 1980.

He was a member of the Gibbs Christian Church and a past member of the Kirksville Masonic Lodge #105 A.F. & A.M.. He loved his family and enjoyed the many visits from them. He enjoyed all sports, especially football; enjoyed working in his yard and sharing his home grown tomatoes, and feeding the neighborhood squirrels.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (January 23, 2014) with a memorial service to be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.

Honorary bearers will be Tim Huseman, Henry Huseman, Brian Harris, Alex Harris, Ben Harris and Drew Dunn.
