Patsy Pearson Thompson, 59, passed away peacefully at her home in Unionville, MO, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. She had been battling cancer.

Patsy Lynn Pearson was born in Kirksville, MO, on April 5, 1954, the daughter of Melvin and Crystal (McDonald) Pearson, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Green City High School in 1972 and after working at various jobs she began a 21 year career with the Putnam County School District, working mostly in the school libraries. She then worked at the Putnam County Library after her retirement, until ill health caused her to leave in December of 2013. Patsy was an avid reader as well encouraging reading in others. She often persuaded people to read books outside of their normal reading patterns. She was instrumental in developing the Veterans wall project at Putnam County School as an enduring tribute to area veterans.

Patsy loved her animals, especially her poodles, and liked to ride her Harley-Davidson motorcycle. She was the ultimate George Strait fan. She often liked to visit St. Joseph, MO, taking in the various sites. Patsy had a pleasant smile, a humble spirit, and an easygoing personality. She dearly loved her grandchildren and poured much of her life into them. Patsy was a member of First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO.

Patsy is survived by two daughters, Sheila Noland and husband Carroll, and Melinda Thompson, all of Unionville, MO. Her grandchildren are Kelsey Noland, Lane Noland, and Nickolas VanGenderen. She is also survived by fiancé Richard Brown of Unionville, MO. Several cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive.

In addition to her parents, Patsy was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Pearson, and a sister, Glenda Pearson, who died in infancy.
A celebration of life for Patsy will take place at the First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO, at 10:30 am on Friday, February 7, 2014. Visitation will take place at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 6. Interment will be at the Scobee Cemetery, Pollock, MO.

Memorials for Patsy are suggested to the First Baptist Church or the Putnam County Library and may be entrusted with Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO 63565.
