Helen Gross
Helen Gross 97 of Kirksville passed away Wednesday (February 5, 2014) at her home.
The daughter of Waterman and Grace (Eversull) Reed, she was born March 19, 1916 in Gibbs, MO. On July 3, 1940 in LaPlata, MO she was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Gross.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Angela Wixson and husband Howard of Colleyville, TX; two grandchildren, Eric McCalment and wife Angie and Natalie McCalment; two great grandchildren, Kirsten and Tanner McCalment; and three nieces, Chickie Myers, Joann, and Caroline England.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth on January 18, 2005; one sister, Mynta Goodwin; and three brothers, Ralph Reed, Pearl Reed, and Waterman Reed Jr.
Helen graduated from LaPlata High School. She worked for many years for Kirksville Savings and Loan and then for Whitney Century 21 until she retired in the late 1990’s. She enjoyed showing real estate and family farms.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed china painting, visiting with people, and was a very good cook. She was the finisher of Kenny’s woodworking projects. She always liked looking nice and dressing like a lady.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (February 9, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Chaplian Paul Milliken officiating. Entombment will be in Maple Hills Cemetery mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 1:00 t 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
