Ruth Niece

Ruth Niece, 88 of Kirksville passed away Wednesday (February 19, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Roy and Gladys (Shatzer) Williams, she was born July 13, 1925 in Dunlap, Missouri. On December 9, 1944 in Kirksville she was united in marriage to Everett Niece.

Ruth is survived by one son, Ronald Niece and wife Janie of Kirksville; two daughters, Phyllis Bernard and husband Ernie of Panama City, FL and Sharon Niece of Richmond, MO; four grandchildren, Candi Ralston and fiancée Robert Cole of Kirksville, Arthur Bernard of Panama City, FL, Carroll Wills and husband Billy of Panama City, FL and April Niece of Kirksville; ten great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ann Anderson of Denison, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pauline and Marion Rehm of Kirksville and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Everett; two brothers, Carroll and Lyndon Williams and one sister, Thelma Lee McFarland.

Ruth grew up in Kirksville and graduated from the Kirksville high school in 1942. Ruth raised her family, farmed and worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory until she retired in 1990.

She was a member of the Illinois Bend Church and most recently Sugar Creek Community Church. She was also a member of LNC and the Happy Hour Club. She was very active in 4-H and her church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and traveling where she had been to all 50 states, Canada, Europe and Mexico.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday (February 22, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Virgil Jones officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
