Boyd Wesley James
Boyd Wesley James, 88 of Brashear passed away Thursday (February 20, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 1, 1925 at the Stickler Hospital in Kirksville, MO to Asa C. and Maggie Shelton James. He attended the Oak Grove and Kirksville Schools and graduated from the Brashear High School in 1941. He served in the U. S. Army in the Philippines and Japan in WWII. On November 16, 1946 in Queen City, MO he married Bina Leone Erwin who preceded him in death in 2010. He was a husband, father, brick tender, farmer, and active community member. He was a member of the Sabbath Home United Methodist Church. He enjoyed tending his ground, raising and milking cattle, playing baseball, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger or someone he couldn’t talk to.
Boyd is survived by his children, Michael James and wife Jody of Brashear and Marsha Redmon and husband Chris of Kirksville; six grandchildren, Travis James, Elizabeth Redmon Altepeter and husband Greg, Kathleen Redmon Nuebling and husband Damon, Thomas Redmon, Daniel Luttrell, and Reannon Collings and Jeremy and eight great-grandchildren, Caylie James, Hunter James, Blake Collings, Austin Luttrell, Dominic Altepeter, Brooklynn Collings, Agatha Altepeter, and Bailey Nuebling as well as one brother, Emmett James and wife Norma and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald James.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday (February 23, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home with Reverend Nancy Douglas officiating. Music will be provided by Kathleen Redmon Nuebling singing “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art” accompanied by Dianthe Cable. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be Travis James, Thomas Redmon, Charles Ambrosia, Randy James, Kelley Church, and Philip James.
Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave., Kirksville, MO 63501 660-665-2233
