David VanBibber
David VanBibber, 77 of rural Greentop passed away Saturday (February 22, 2014) at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
The son of Price and Susie (Clifton) VanBibber, he was born in Kirksville on December 3, 1936. On July 20, 1957 in Aurora, Illinois he was united in marriage to Helaine Collman who survives. Also surviving are three children, Cheri Wakelin and husband Bob of Crafton, MA, Terry VanBibber and wife Tracy of Scottsdale, AZ, and Darrin VanBibber and wife Ginger of Kirksville; nine grandchildren, Marlene, Hannah, Madelyn and Johnathon Wakelin, Brittany, Brandon and Briana VanBibber, and Chase and Alexis VanBibber; one sister, Frances Wiggans; two uncles, Robert Clifton and Frank Clifton; a cousin, John Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Timothy; two sisters, Betty McClellan and Reba Werner; and two half-brothers, Delbert and Tom VanBibber.
David grew up in Kirksville and attended the Kirksville Schools, graduating with the class of 1955. After graduation he went to work in Montgomery, Illinois, for Western Electric (AT&T), working there for thirty-six years. In 1994 after retiring David and Helaine moved to rural Greentop.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He dearly loved his grandchildren.
At his request he has been cremated and there will be a private family service at a later date.
