Mary Lou (Harkness) Moyer, 86, of Kirksville, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Northeast Regional Hospital in Kirksville.

She was the daughter of Dan and Allie (Davis) Harkness, born July 28, 1927, in Fulton, Arkansas. On December 6, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, she was united in marriage to Carol Moyer of Kirksville.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Moyer, of Kansas City; her sister, Sue Clemens, of Chicago; two grandchildren, Bryan Yowell and wife, Melissa of Kirksville; and Kevin Yowell and fiancé Sara Thompson of Blue Springs, MO; six great-grandchildren, Keegan Yowell of Kirksville, MO, Kyle Yowell of Blue Springs, MO, Hailey Yowell of Kirksville, MO, Nicole Yowell and Brianna Yowell of Kirksville, MO, and Leigh Thompson of Blue Springs, MO, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Mary Carol Yowell, and sister Harriett Garrison.

After graduating from high school in Fulton, Arkansas, she attended Chillicothe Business School and received a degree in bookkeeping. She was assistant manager of the Sears store in Kirksville. She was a devoted wife and mother, supporting and helping her husband by being the bookkeeper for Moyer Truck Line, Inc.. Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She became the unofficial grandmother “Ma” of all her grandson’s friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Reverend Carrol Davenport will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Hills Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Yowell, Kevin Yowell, Kyle Yowell, Keegan Yowell, Mark Findling, and Jason Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Yowell, Rich Morrow and Tim Rogers.

Family will be receiving friends from noon until the time of service at
