Hazel Bonnell

Hazel Mae Bonnell, 64, of Unionville, MO passed away after a yearlong battle with cancer at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on March 21, 2014.

Hazel Bonnell was born in Ohio on February 10, 1950 the daughter of Virgil and Agnes Lillie.  On June 1, 1970, she married William “Bigfoot” Bonnell in West Virginia and four children were born to this union.  They later made their home in Putnam County where Hazel was an active member of the Eastern Star and lead Boy Scouts.   Hazel enjoyed the evening bon fires built during many camping trips.  The little special thing in life for Hazel was her coffee with family and friends.  On a funny note she, was obsessed with rearranging her furniture and re-painting her walls.  Life for Hazel officially began when she became a grandmother.   She spoiled all 11 rotten.  Each could expect a custom made birthday cake of their choice each year.  Hazel always had family surrounding her.  A rare sight would be to see her yard void of children and friends.  Hazel’s always inviting love will be missed greatly.

Hazel is survived by three children; a daughter, Andrea Bonnell of Udell, IA and twin sons, Paul Bonnell and wife Lola, and Jim Bonnell and wife Amanda, all of Unionville, MO.  Hazel’s surviving grandchildren are Shelbi, Shaylie, Colby, Shonie, Kelly, Willie, Michael, Davie, Jaelynn, Bella, and Addisyn.  Hazel’s surviving syblings include brothers, Harold and Ronald Lillie and sister Vada Parrish.

In addition to Hazel’s husband and parents, she was proceded in death by a son, Billy Bonnell; brothers, Leroy and James Lille; sister, Margaret Tidrick; and son-in-law, John Leeper.

Funeral services for Hazel Bonnell will be at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, MO, at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Her body will be cremated as to her request with a private burial at a later date.

Hazel’s Memorial is suggested to go to the family to help with funeral expenses and may be entrusted to the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home, 709 S. 27th St., Unionville, MO  63565.
