Wilma L. Partin
Wilma Partin, 83, of Queen City passed away Sunday (March 30, 2014) in the Schuyler County Nursing Home.
The daughter of Everett and Irene (Davids) Morris, she was born August 23, 1930, in Putnam County. On September 23, 1952, she was united in marriage to Gene Partin and to this marriage six children were born.
Wilma spent most of her early life in the Putnam County area where she attended and graduated from the Putnam County High School. Before her marriage she worked at the Putnam County Hospital as a Nurses Aide. After they married they lived in Alabama where her husband was in the Military. After Gene’s discharge they moved to Kirksville. In 1958 they moved to Queen City where they operated Partin’s Grocery and Locker, closing the grocery store in the mid 1970’s and the locker in 1979. Also during this time Wilma had a dog kennel where she raised Pug Dogs. Wilma then worked for PF&M in food service at Northeast Missouri State College (Now Truman University) until October 1989.
She is survived by children, Cathy Kerby and husband Ron of Kirksville, Terri Yearns and husband Leroy of Queen City, Beth Bray and special friend Bill Acton of Greentop, Dennis Partin and wife Laura of Queen City, and Denise McMillian and husband Ron of Lexington, OK; daughter-in-law, Ellen Partin; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Donald Lee Partin; several cousins and special friend, Debbie Kelso.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Gene; a son, Ronnie Partin; her parents; her father and mother-in-law, Orval and Ora Lee Partin and a sister-in-law, Carol Partin.
Wilma was a member of the Queen City Christian Church where she taught Sunday School for several years, was a long time member of the C.W.C. She belonged to the 66 Wranglers and enjoyed the Trail rides and riding with her family. She was active in 4-H and also helped the Pioneers during Pioneer Days.
She enjoyed her children and her grandchildren. She liked doing puzzles, driving her golf cart, and camping. She enjoyed the sled riding parties for her children and their friends and serving them hot chocolate after they were finished.
Funeral service will be Thursday (April 3, 2014) at 11:00 a.m. in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor George Bradburn officiating. Music will be provided by Ron McMillian. Burial will be in the Queen City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Humphrey, Shannon Partin, Cameron Partin, Adam Attebery, Ronnie McMillian, Cody McMillian, Kindell Partin, Doug Bray, Jason Cooper, and Darren Claybrook. Honorary pallbearers will be Great-grandsons.
Visitation will be after noon on Wednesday (April 2, 2014) with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the
