Gabriel Allen Small

Gabriel Allen Small, 39 of Columbia, MO formerly of Queen City, MO passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 following a motorcycle accident in Columbia.

Gabriel was born on July 6, 1974 in Kirksville, MO the son of Donna (Martin) and Michael A. Small.

Surviving are his mother, Donna Small of Queen City, MO; his father, Michael A. Small of Gorin, MO; sister Carna Jackson and husband Reed of Chesapeake, VA; brothers Aaron Small and wife Rachel of Wyaconda, MO and Joshua Small of Kansas City, MO; niece, Teagan Jackson and nephew Ronan Jackson; step niece and nephews,  Andrea Meyer, Anthony Meyer and Matthew Meyer; his grandmother, Hope Small of Kirksville, MO and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Gabriel was preceded in death by his stepfather, Dick Hiltabidle; grandparents, Ted and Florene Martin and Stanley Small.

Gabriel spent his early years growing up on a farm in Clark County, MO, before moving to Kirksville and graduating from Kirksville High School.  Gabriel served his country for 15 years. He joined the National Guard while attending high school.  After serving in the National Guard he joined the Navy.  After his honorable discharge from the Navy he attended a technical school in Chesapeake, VA receiving an HVAC certification.  After returning to Missouri he attended and graduated from the Police Academy in Moberly, MO.  He then joined the Army and was honorably discharged after completing his tours of duty in Iraq. He was presently continuing his education at the University of Missouri in Columbia pursing a degree in Agra Business.

He loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting and had recently started learning to play the violin. He always greeted you with a smile, a hug or handshake.  His niece and nephew, Teagan and Ronan held a special place in his heart and he will be sadly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Church of Faith in Lancaster, MO with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating.  Burial will be in the Combs Cemetery in Luray, MO.  Pallbearers are Aaron Small, Joshua Small, Brian Russell, Matt Vincent, Tyson Vincent, Matthew Meyer and Rick Schoonover.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2014 with the family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dooley Funeral Home in Queen City, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the Combs Cemetery.
