Lucille Phillips

Lucille Phillips, 91 of Kirksville passed away Monday (April 14, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of John Samuel and Annie Elizabeth (Campbell) Walters, she was born March 28, 1923 in Stahl, MO. On December 6, 1939 in Stahl, MO she was united in marriage to Luther Davis and to this union six children were born, Lorene, Vernadean, Loren, Lora, Margaret and Earl. On August 4, 1957 she was united in marriage to Thomas Phillips and to this union two children were born, Larry and Connie.

Lucille is survived by her children, Lorene Stewart of Kirksville, Vernadean Gardner of Kirksville, Loren Davis and wife Vicki of Novinger, MO, Lora Boge of Kirksville, Earl Davis of Kirksville, Larry Phillips of Kirksville and Connie Phillips of Kirksville; 30 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 1 great great great grandchild; two sisters, Goldie Harmon of Dubuque, IA and Berniece Baggs of Kansas City, MO; and a sister-in-law, Margie Walters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband’s, Luther in 1954 and Thomas in 1981; a daughter, Margaret Davis Jones; three brothers, Ellis, Paul and Raymond; and two grandsons, Mike Potter and Kelly Mountain.

Lucille was raised and attended school in Stahl, MO. She started working as a nurse’s aid and in the laundry at Nursing Home #1 and continued to work as a nurse’s aid and area nursing homes until retiring from Kirksville Manor Care in 1983. She enjoyed to do crossword puzzles and to visit with family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday (April 18, 2014) at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Llewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville.

Pallbearers will be her children. Honorary bearers will be her grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the
