Neta Riley 75 of Queen City passed away Tuesday (April 15, 2014) at Northeast Regional Medical Center.

The daughter of Owen Galen and Mary Blanche (Crawford) Riley, she was born January 31, 1939 in Queen City, Missouri. She attended the Queen City Public School until the middle of her eight grade year when she and her family moved to Joliet, Illinois. Neta graduated from the Joliet Township High School in 1957. After graduation she worked for a greeting card company for several years. She went to work for Caterpillar in 1966 and worked there until moving to Queen City in the late 1970’s. She then worked for Kewani in Kirksville for awhile, before going to work at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City for 15 years. Neta had been a resident of the Schuyler County Nursing Home for the last two and a half years.

She was a member of the Queen City Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star for over 40 years, and the White Shrine for several years. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts, making flower arrangements, crocheting and shopping. She especially enjoyed doing things for her nieces and nephews.

Neta is survived by her sister, Virginia Bailey and husband Wayne of Queen City; sister-in-law, Jo Riley Rich of York, SC; nephews, Bobby Riley Jr. and wife Ellen of York, SC, and Mike Bailey and wife Jani of Greentop, MO; nieces, Joyce Cheers of Queen City and Tonya Bailey of Queen City; two aunts, Valee Roof of Unionville, MO and Betty Crawford of Independence, MO; seven great nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Bailey, Autumn Bailey, Terry Cheers, Kimberly Raper, Samantha Souther, Jessica Traugher, and Allison Crabb; two great great nephews, Andrew and Shawn Raper and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bobby Riley.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (April 19, 2014) at the Queen City Cemetery with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Visitation will be from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. in the
