Paul E. Wheeler
Paul E. Wheeler, 83 of Middlefield, Ohio, formerly of Queen City, MO passed away late Sunday night (April 20, 2014).
The son of Boyd and Beulah (Deierling) Wheeler, he was born February 11, 1931, on the family farm in rural Queen City. On September 23, 1951, in Washington, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Barbara Jane Mullen and to this marriage six children were born. On October 20, 1989, in Mt. Dora, Florida, he was married to Doris Geidel who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Deb Newland (Kirby) of Kirksville, and Lynn Yoder (Sam) of Clark, MO; daughter-in-law, Donna Wheeler (Chuck) of Catoosa, OK; son-in-law, Donnie Griswold (Virginia) of Queen City; step-daughters, Cinda Pottmyer (Jack) of New Philadelphia, OH , Deb Wirt (Bob) of Middlefield, OH; two brothers, Don Wheeler (Anna Lou) of Queen City, and Richard Wheeler (Pat) of Queen City; a sister, Lola Snider (Cliff) of Queen City, also seventeen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; three sons, Steven Craig, Michael Paul, and Randall Clair Wheeler; one daughter, Beatrice Jean Griswold; and on grandson, Aaron Yoder.
Paul grew up in the Queen City area and attended the Green Valley rural school for his first eight grades. He then attended the Queen City High School, graduating with the class of 1949. He worked in numerous occupations including farming, water and waste water treatment plant operator, school bus driver, Deputy Sheriff, maintenance, and operated Wheeler’s Greenhouse in Queen City for fourteen years. His other achievements included Alderman and Mayor of Queen City, volunteer fireman, and little league coach. After retirement he enjoyed woodworking. He built and refinished more than forty pieces of furniture.
A memorial service will be held Saturday (May 3, 2014) at 1:00 p.m. in the Queen City Christian Church with Pastor George Bradburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Queen City Cemetery.
