Thomas 'Tom' Walter Hull, 92, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014. Tom was born on April 27, 1922 in Kirksville, Mo to Ernest “Ted” Grey and Nellie Mae (Wood) Hull.
Tom graduated from Kirksville High School with the class of 1940. Tom was an All-American Football player. He was a World War II veteran, whom proudly served his country in the US Army, 90 th Infantry. Tom Worked on the railroad, starting with the Wabash and retiring after 40 years in 1987, with the Norfolk and Southern. Tom was an avid sports fan and also owned and raced thoroughbred horses for many years. He enjoyed gardening, animals and most of all loved spending time with his family.
Tom was proceded in death by his parents, Ted and Nellie Hull and his only sibling, Helen Louise Hull-Huff.
He is survived by his only child, Barbara Lee Hull of Maryville, MO; four grandchildren, Mark Alan McFarland and wife Mindy of Turney, MO, Melissa Ann McClurg and husband Jerry of Hopkins, MO, Matthew Thomas Gabel and wife Rosa of Clarinda, IA and Mitchell William Gabel of Richmond, MO; seven greart grandchildren, Mason McFarland, Michael McFarland, Abagail McClurg, Noah McClurg, Victoria Gabel, Valerie Gabel and Thomas Gabel and nephew, Dr. Richard Huff of Spring Lake, MI.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Maple Hills Cemetery in Kirksville, MO.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army. Memorials may be left at or sent to the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, 2100 E. Shepherd Ave, Kirksville, MO 63501.
